All of these photos were taken from Lime Kiln Point state park, which is situated on the western shore of San Juan Island in the waters of Puget Sound. The park, also known as "whale watch park", is one of the best land based whale watching locations in the world. The southern resident orcas, which is made up of J, K, and L Pod, frequently pass by the lighthouse and often come right up to the rocks to swim in the kelp forest below.
